Our History
The history of Apologetics, Inc goes back to 1975 and Princeton University. There, the C.S. Lewis Society was formed by Princeton University students as a guest-speaker forum for the campus to hear Christian scholars articulate a biblical perspective on topics of wide public concern. After years of fruitful ministry, the Society was re-launched on the campus of Trinity College of Florida in 1988 by Dr. Tom Woodward as a fellowship of those committed to explaining and defending the Christian faith internationally.
In 1997, Dr. Woodward obtained the domain apologetics.org and incorporated the ministry in 2002 under the name Apologetics, Inc as a non-profit. The ministry, however, continued under the name C.S. Lewis Society as a DBA, and for the next twenty years, the CSLS was on a mission to show the world why Christianity is true and satisfying and to equip Christians to share this news clearly and creatively.
In 2022 a decision was made to rebrand under Apologetics, Inc. to provide more clarity and distinctiveness for the different areas of ministry. While still committed to our initial mission, our ministry has grown. We now support various initiatives: a speaker team, writers, podcasts, youth discipleship resources, a fellowship, and a DNA model and curriculum. These initiatives are better served under the name Apologetics, Inc. The C.S. Lewis Society is not gone, however. Rather it is now one of the initiatives supported by Apologetics, Inc. and serves as a place for vocational friendship.
We are excited about the future. We trust the Lord will lead us and show us how to faithfully steward Apologetics, Inc. as a platform to support a wide range of apologetic initiatives for his glory. And if you’re interested in partnering with us, we look forward to hearing from you.
